Stop the bus/truck

Stop the truck is a card game for two or more players.

The object of the game is not to lose the round, therefore losing one of their 3 assigned lives.

Each player is dealt 3 cards and the player left of the dealer is dealt 4. The object of the game is to try to achieve as high as score as possible with cards of the same suit by either picking from the deck of the face up card that has been disposed by the previous player.

A player calls "Stop the truck" when they think that they have achieved a score that is safe. Each remaining person takes one more turn until the game comes round to the person that stopped the truck. Everyone turns up their cards. The person(s) with the lowest score lose a life.

A proper "Stop the truck" is when a player scores a maximum of 31. As soon as a player scores 31, they throw their cards down and everyone else loses a life.

Each game is very short, so we created extra rules whereby if you call "stop the truck", you must win the hand - with the winner gaining a life (if they called it). However, this solution becomes impractical when the game gets down to 3 or fewer players
